Sazerac

Absinthe rinse · cognac · sugar · Peychaud's

You’ll need

  • ¼ oz (7 ml) absinthe, to rinse
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) simple syrup
  • 2 dashes peychaud's bitters
  • 1¾ oz (52 ml) cognac
  • Ice
  • Lemon twist, to garnish

Served in a SHOSHIN hand-cut rocks glass.

How to make it

  1. Grab a mixing glass and a SHOSHIN hand-cut rocks glass.
  2. Rinse the SHOSHIN hand-cut rocks glass with ¼ oz of absinthe: swirl to coat the inside, then discard the rest.
  3. Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 5 cubes).
  4. Pour 1 tsp of simple syrup into the mixing glass.
  5. Add 2 dashes of peychaud's bitters into the mixing glass.
  6. Pour 1¾ oz of cognac into the mixing glass.
  7. Stir with ice for about 20 seconds, until very cold.
  8. Strain into the SHOSHIN hand-cut rocks glass.
  9. Garnish with a lemon twist.
